St Mary’s Church

Woodham Ferrers, Chelmsford Essex CM3 8RF

St. Mary's is the Church of England church for Woodham Ferrers , a village near Chelmsford in Essex, UK and it has stood at the heart of our community for over 750 years. St. Mary's is situated at the top of the hill, on Main Road, in Woodham Ferrers. However, being set back from the road, people often miss it and don't realise this wonderfully historic building is there.

Those who do take the time to visit will find an interesting and beautiful Church, in a peaceful setting with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from the top of the Churchyard. Guided tours can be arranged for groups who would like to visit.

Like the church itself, our services are traditional in style but with an air of informality and you can be sure of a warm welcome. In addition to our normal pattern of Sunday morning services we hold many events throughout the year. These include 'Summer Sunday's Open Afternoons and Evensongs', Flower Festivals and Concerts and also seasonal festivals such as Easter, Harvest, Remembrance Sunday and the Christmas Services.

Our main service on a Sunday morning is currently at 11.30am. Please note that on the fifth Sunday of the month we have a joint Service with St. Andrew's and the Chapel and Schoolroom at Woodham Ferrers.
